Papua Noir
Volcafe PNG is the only exporter to own a wet mill in Papua New Guinea (PNG), specifically the Lahamenegu wet mill in the Eastern Highlands, acquired in 1995. This mill has been upgraded with new machinery, enhancing the quality control of PNG cherries. Unlike most smallholders who wash and process their coffee independently, Volcafe PNG purchases cherries directly and manages the processing, ensuring consistency.
The Lahamenegu wet mill services smallholder farms within a 30-kilometer radius, receiving freshly harvested cherries daily. Volcafe PNG has also focused on building traceability programs and developing farmer profiles to better understand and improve the PNG green coffee it sources.
